TECHNOLOGY
telelift
u noe hospitals those rectangular boxes moving overhead on tracks
ya, we call dat the telelift
it transports our docs to different levels of the building
coz my company occupies 19 out of 52 storeys of the building
in addition to dat, we've also got in-house despatch
but coz the latter operates at fixed timings
it'll be faster to use the telelift
if we wanna transport urgent docs
huge and fast copy machines
high tech speaker fone with speed dial to helpdesk
can extend the alarm using the fone too
coz every day at 7pm
the lights and aircon will be switched off automatically
and the alarm will be armed
so if we working OT
can conveniently extend the floor’s alarm system
cool rite
haha, ok lar, i sua ku can
there’s also this system on the intranet
which allows us to control
lighting, aircon and movement of blinds
and i can send free sms using my intranet
but not sure whether they track anot lar
so i dare not send too many
haha
our email uses lotus notes
i’m still fiddling around with it
realized that it’s a powerful application
can easily call a meeting
create a team room where docs such as work procedures are kept

oh yah
my comp has a dvd-writer lor
lagi better than my comp at home
but no floppy drive lar

COLLEAGUES
nice pple
strong team spirit
workflow is clear
so no one is indispensable
which is a good and bad thing lar
good in the sense that
can take urgent leave without having ur fone ringing all day
coz everyone knows where everything is kept
and wat issues are done/outstanding
bad in the sense dat they can ask u to leave anytime
hoho

oh yah
i juz signed up for ABT (abs, bum, tum) classes
can slim down liao!!
fyi, i put on 5 kgs after knowing my neighbour lor
but i tink he put on more than me
hahahaha
12 lessons for 40 bucks
so every class is 3+ bucks nia
at first i thot it's kinda wasting $$
since i've aredi got my california membership
but but but u see ah...
the classes are conducted during lunch time!
so i’ll have to eat light
so it's like dieting and exercising 2-in-1!
plus now i'll have a valid reason
to take a relaxing hot shower in the middle of the day
how cool is dat man
helps keep me awake for the 2nd half of the day too

going home in 5 minutes’ time!!

i tendered my resignation liao
on 8 Sept 2006
last day of sevice wif DBS was 7 Oct
took 2 days leave to rest for a long weekend
before i start work at GIC on 9 Oct
so my last working day in DBS will be 4 Oct
was so happy counting down to it everyday
not dat i don't like the company lar
it's just dat the pay is sucky lor
and it's kinda exciting to change job environment mah (:

but the gah-men oversees it
becoz the firm takes the gah-men's assets
and invests them in global markets
i went for their interview on 7 Sept (thurs)
and on the same day, i was accepted
so next day (fri) i tendered my resignation
when i was telling my neighbour more abt the company
i started by saying the full name
and he was like "i don't like the 1st word aredi"
hahahaha

upon receiving my resignation
my immediate supervisor suggested dat i re-consider
and not rush into it
i kinda agreed
coz everything happened so quickly
it seemed like a rash decision
so over the weekend
i spent much time talking to various pple
neighbour, frens, colleagues
getting opinions and suggestions
after weighing the pros and cons
and considering all my options
i decided (with the support of my neighbour)
to go ahead and give it a shot
so i arranged to sign the letter of employment
on the following tues

started work last monday
so far so good
got all my accesses aredi
which means gonna start doing real work soon
last week was spent surfing the intranet
reading handbooks and whatnots
really boring week lar
but now dat i've got internet access
it's so much better!!
muahahahaha
they don't block anything lor
but i tink they really monitor the kind of sites dat we go to
so currently, i surf those emails, blogs and forums
during lunch time only
muz be more careful lar
